Village & nature

Village Dobra is placed in North-East Serbia inside of National Park Djerdap, 150km from Belgrade. Dobra is today a modern, completely equipped village in communal sense. The village has around 230 houses with around 800 villagers.

Dobra village takes part of territory between Danube river, Homolje and Miroc mountain and Branicevo area; Somrda (806m) and Kožica (793m) mountain peaks and rivers Cezava i Kozica. Dobra is located on middle elevation of 75m. A huge water accumulation of 170km2 affects the micro-climate of this region. The most often and the strongest wind is “gornjak”. It’s a west wind and blows locally during the whole year. “Kosava” wind also blows.

About values of Djerdap vegetation, several researchers are accenting that ’’nowhere in Europe, inside of one closed geographic whole, inside of one the same biotype, aren’t there so numerous and diverse micro-habitat as in Djerdap, nowhere, not in any space such flora exists.”

There are over 50 sorts of trees or types of forest communities (35 relict), 55 kinds of fish.
Rare species of trees are silver linden, cotinus, syringa, black ash, prunus mahaleb, caspian beech, ornate oak, quercus frainetto tenore, carpinus orientalis, acer platanoides, sorbus aucuparia, lonicera caprifolium, privet, euonymus europaeus, viburnum lantana, cornel, aspen.

Over hundred sorts of curative herbs, among which the most valuable are: root, brachypodium, hyssop, rhubarb, xeranthemum , red St. John's wort, arctostaphyllos uva-ursi, primrose, adonis vernalis, thyme, blackberry, eatable and curative phillyrea latifolia, berberis vulgaris, valeriana officinalis and others.

Among animal species, there are: martens, deer, foxes, pigs, eagles, rabbits, snakes, turtles and others. The most interesting fish species are: beluga, sturgeon, sterlet, carp, catfish, asp, chub, vimba vimba, bream, whitebait, chondrostoma nasus, perch, robin, barbus barbus, zingel zingel, perca fluviatillis and other. The lake has done much on relocation of fish fond.
